Full Courses

We offer full training courses for the:

  • Restricted Radiotelephony Operator Certificates
  • General Radiotelephony Operator Certificates

Our Radio Telephony (RT) courses are divided into two modules each, being:

  • Theory Training - In preparation for the SACAA exam (The syllabus for this is similar for both Restricted and General)
  • Practical Training (Flight Plans & Radio Procedures) - VFR for Restricted and VFR & IFR for General

The theory module duration is the same for both Restricted and General but the practical training for General RT will require an extra session

Practical Test Preparation Course (Optional)

Your flight training ATO is required to do your practical training as part of your flight training and they must certfify that you have passed the CAA exam as well as that you have reached the required level of practical proficiency to undergo the Practical Radiotelephony Test. There may be instances where a candidate as already passed the CAA theory exam but us not in a position to get the ATO certfication - this applies more generally in the case of a candidate wanting to obtain a General Radiotelephony Operator certificate and have passed the CAA exam but have not yet enrolled for the flight training toward a higher licence or IF Rating. In these cases, we provide this course to extensively over the IFR practical elements of both Flight Planning as well as IFR radio phraseology and procedures.

Practical Radiotelephony Testing

Once you have passed the CAA RT exam and you have reached the required standard for RT phraseology and ATC Flight Planning proficiency with your flight training ATO, you may book the Practical Radiotelephony Test with us. The test is conducted on a G1000 based aircraft simulator. (You will be expected to do all the radio work but not the actual flying) Pre-requisites prior to this test:

  • Must have passed the CAA RT exam
  • The ATO declaration section on CAA form CA 61-01 (c or d) must be signed by your training ATO*
  • You will also be required to complete an ATC Flight Plan - make sure you are completely familiar with AIC 003/2022

* This section can be signed by us if you have done our Practical Test Preparation Course (see above( with us

Note - If you have not done our practical training with us, please arrive one hour prior to the test so that we familiarise you with the G1000 radio functions

With the rapidly phasing out of ground-based procedures such as NDB, VOR and even ILS, it has having a GNSS Approach endorsement on your licence has become a valueable addition to your IF Rating. We provide a comprensive training course consisting of:

Theoretical Training

This is doone at your own pace in our Computor Based Training (CBT) room and consist of five modules of roughly 1 hour per module. A mini exam (ten questions) is done at the end of each module. In addition to the audio/visual CBT material, we will also provide you with a course reference handbook for use during your theoretical training.

Upon successful completion of the theory training, you will be issued with a Completion Certificate, (If you prefer to do your practical training at some other ATO, you may use this certficate as proof of ground school completion)

Desktop Simulator Practice

To save tine in the FNPT simulator, you will be encouraged to do some 'button familiarisation' of the Garmin G430 and the G750 on our desktop simulator. (The use if this equipment is included in the cost of the theoretical training course)

Training in FNPT II Simulator

This will consist of 2 to 3 training sessions (3 hours total) consisting of:

Session 1 - General GNSS/RNAV Procedures (SID's STAR's and GNSS Approaches)

Session 2 - GNSS LOFT (ie FALE SID to FAPM GNSS with a missed approach included)

Session 3 - Test LOFT (ie FAOR SID, FAWB GNSS Missed App divert to FALA GNNS App

Endorsements

Upon successful completion, we will endorse your logbook and comlete SACAA form CA 61-11.5 for you to submit,
